What is Heading West?

In many ways we are finding that out ourselves as we travel along. It’s a journey that started over three years ago when some friends of ours suggested that we try Gareth’s music out full-time. We all had the idea that in today’s more technologically savvy world where you can speak to the masses via the internet and with the beginnings of an acoustic performance revival it may really be possible to take music mixed with a message and do it yourself. It took a lot – faith, risk, a fair measure of blind foolishness and hope to take the theory to reality. However, we’ve started on the road. Only time will tell how far we get – and indeed where we’re really going. So three years on we’re here with a small independent music label that professes to have something to say, that hopes to make and promote music that people will enjoy, that will make people think, that will take them into the spiritual realms and encourage and inspire them to get active in fighting injustice. There is desperate need in our hurting world but we can do something about it if we love others as we love ourselves.
And there is the heart of it. We follow the man who is God, the one who had so much to say about love that we killed him for it. But in the words of C.S.Lewis “a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before time dawned there is a different incantation”. Death worked backwards and the new music began. Someone once said that ‘music communicates before it’s understood’. So it was and so it is. Have a listen and see what permeates through to your soul.
