Greed For Gain
I work a long day for a very low wage - no wonder I’m showing
my age
I need more but you’re giving me less, keeping my trade in
the wilderness
You pay prices that will make you smile, you don’t see what
we’ve been denied
It’s time to make a better deal
I walk five miles with a bag on my back, just to bring back water
cos we don’t have taps
We can’t afford to get improved, cos all of our money is going
to you
To pay off the debt that’s around our necks, so we can’t
move forward or get on back
To building lives that would be worth living - if only our work
was worth a living
Is there no justice
Is there no justice
Sometimes there’s no justice
Is there no justice
The people cry out cos they hate the profits, big corporations
why don’t they stop it
But governments come and governments go, the barriers stay and keep
the prices low
So we get what we want for a real good price, just the cries of
the poor at our avarice
It’s time to make a better deal
You know it’s in our hands to make a change - pay a little
more give a fairer wage
But we are the first and they are the third, got to keep them down
so they can’t be heard
Cos we want what we want and we want it now, we don’t give
a damn about the cost of the plough
The broken family with the cashless cow, in the global village no
poor allowed
Is there no justice
Is there no justice
Sometimes there’s no justice
Is there no justice
What would Jesus do – someone said to me
What would Jesus do
Well I don’t know (exactly)
But I know he’d do something
So why don’t you……..
They have the need and we have the way
It’s your decision for a Fairer Trade
