With 2010 well underway so is Gareth's schedule for the Spring and Early Summer. Check out our Live Pages for details of solo gigs and the Spring Acoustic Duo tour with Rob Halligan (starts 25th Feb). Visiting 14 venues throughout the UK the Duo tour will be highlighting Traidcraft's Make It Fair campaign which is urging the UK's largest tea brands to switch to Fair Trade. There will be FT stalls at most venues and an opportunity to learn more about the campaign. Finally we're delighted that our good friend Yvonne Lyon is featured in a four page article in next month's edition of Maverick Magazine. Look out for more GDJ press soon.
The Christmas Single
A very Happy Christmas to all of our subscribers, visitors and friends. Gareth has released his version of "In The Bleak Mid Winter" as a downloadable single on i-Tunes, Knapster, CD Baby and all other reputable digital sites. Here for your enjoyment is a video of him performing it live on Bishop FM on 21st December 2009. Thankyou !
"Breathe" - The Single
So here we go ! "Breathe" the most requested song from Gareth's "Water & Light" album is out as a downloadable single on November 2nd 2009. After some special treatment at The Foundry Music Lab the Radio Edit of the song will be available on all the major digital download channels along with a remastered version of "Borderland" (also from the album) and a brand new acoustic song "the Fields".
Also to mention that Gareth recently did a session for Yvonne Lyon's new album release Ashes & Gold. It's a superb collection of songs and well worth checking out. Gareth sings and plays on the track "Someday" which was given an airing by Bob Harris on his BBC Radio 2 Saturday show on 8th August.
SONY RADIO AWARDS 2009 WIN !
Some fantastic news that the podcast The Prisoner & The Budgerigar which features Gareth's recording of his vocal and guitar arrangement of the classic Christmas Carol "In The Bleak Midwinter" has won the Sony Radio Award 2009 for Best Internet Programme. The podcast was made by highly regarded producer Mary Colwell and we send our warmest congratulations to her on the win. BBC Radio 2 & Scotland/Wales
March was a great month with regards to Radio exposure for Water & Light. Not only did Gareth feature as the Spotlight Artist on Aled Jones BBC Radio 2 Good Morning Sunday show at the start of the month but Bob Harris also played tracks from the album on his Saturday Night Show for two weeks running. BBC Scotland and Wales are continuing to play the album at regular intervals and some of the independent stations are picking up on the music as well. If your in the mood to help you can make requests for your favourite track by emailing the programmes from their respective websites. Gareth is currently on tour with solo dates in Scotland followed by some joint dates with Yvonne & David Lyon in Scotland and the North East of England.
