It's Out Today &.....Radio 4 !?

So here it is. Gareth's new album "Only For A Short While" is out today (Friday 5th May). To those who have already bagged a copy in Brighton last weekend or who pre-ordered and should recieve yours today - THANKYOU and we hope you enjoy the music. Finally an extract from Gareth's Fair Trade song "Greed For Gain" made a surprise appearance on the "Helping Ourselves" Radio 4 documentary about the whole issue of Fair Trade on Tuesday this week. Mixed Up in MySpace

Hi All, Things are moving on well with the new album. Gareth finished the mixing up in Glasgow this week and everything is away to the duplication/ artwork/producer chappies. We're on schedule for a start of May release though anyone at the BU Assembly in Brighton will be able to buy advance copies at the end of April. We're also quite excited about a new thing for folks that want to find out a little more about the music. Check out Gareth's new MySpace account for a couple of exclusive full length songs and see his brand new Blog. Keep in touch and hope to see a good many of you in May/June at the tour dates.

New Album In Production

Gareth is currently working on the recording stage of his new studio album and so far it's sounding good. This new collection of songs touches on a few different subjects - from the largely misunderstood plight of many Asylum Seekers in the UK and Ireland through to the economics of a world system that keeps so many locked in poverty and ultimately plays a part in creating situations where people are forced to look for asylum in the first place. To be entitled "Only For A Short While" the album will be available from the start of May 2006. For photos from the studio sessions thus far please visit Grape Photography and have a look. Folk, Roots & Soul: Fairtrade Fortnight Live (8th March 2006)

In support of Fairtrade Fortnight join Fair Trade Media for an evening of acoustic music, issue raising and soulful journeying with two artists who care deeply about Fair Trade. Includes Gareth Davies-Jones - “passion and complete frankness……punches the listener right in the solar plexus” according to The Phantom Tollbooth . Gareth is a folk/roots artist with a protest edge and spiritual grit. Likened to Martyn Joseph and David Gray his songs question, challenge and hope for a better deal. Da’Nelle is a singer songwriter who fuses soul, folk, gospel and jazz, and to create a contemporary sound that’s truly her own. Over the years she’s worked with the likes of Meatloaf, Fun Lovin Criminals and N Trance. Both artists work with Fair Trade Media, a new media label that aims to establish a fair trade gold standard in the media and design industry. Plus special guests - cocoa producers from Ghana. You'll get the chance to hear from The Day Chocolate Company (makers of Divine Fairtrade Chocolate) and some of their producers from Ghana. A New Year, New Album & New Tour !!

A very Happy New Year to all Heading West regulars and especially to those visiting us for the first time. 2006 is beginning to take shape for Gareth with the first appearance at Christian Aid's conference in Derbyshire on Weds 11th January. In the pipeline is the recording of the new album which is due out late April/early May and now a Summer Tour straddling 10 dates in May and June to promote the said album. We'll put the Tour information sheet in our contact section later this week. Let us know if you're interested in hosting a gig.
